Therapy Update

Hello to everyone from the IDC team!  The therapy season is going by faster than one could ever imagine.  The weeks feel like days, and we are enjoying every minute.  No photo album would be large enough to capture the incredible experiences we have shared with the IDC families. But please visit our newsletter photo album to see some of the photographs over the past several months  As always, they have been an absolute pleasure to work with!

Wonderful news for those friends and families from Germany- Dolphin Aid has agreed to again fund children from Germany to our programs. For more information please call our office, 305-451-5884

The list of therapy services available at Island Dolphin Care is continuing to expand! The physical therapy, massage, and cranio-sacral therapy have already proved to be an extremely beneficial addition.  Seminars are now being offered each week to families.  The schedule goes as follows:

Monday:  Sensory Integration Workshop
Tuesday:  Music Therapy
Wednesday: Yoga
Thursday: Assistive Technology Workshop
*Private sessions available upon request
** Schedule is subject to change, call for updated schedule

Plans in the near future include occupational and speech therapies and applied behavior analysis.  All services will be implemented by certified and licensed therapists.  Call or email Dr. Jack at physicaltherapy@islanddolphincare.org for more information.

In upcoming news, the Community Swim Program is starting this September.  This gives individuals with special needs from the community an opportunity to interact with dolphins.  The program became a tradition that Deena and Peter started in 1991 seeing the progress of their son, Joe, in the water.  A special thanks to Publix for sponsoring these swims!  With their support, we are able to make these experiences possible to residents in the Florida Keys.

In the winter months, groups of children and teenagers from South Florida are invited for Dolphin Talks.  Individuals with disabilities and terminal illnesses come to IDC for the day to paint, play at the touch tank, enjoy a picnic lunch, and learn about then meet dolphins.  If you wish to sponsor one of these Dolphin Talks, $1000 provides eight children with the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing and educational camp at IDC.

Island Dolphin Care has created yet another way to provide us with your feedback, as this is always important.  If you have participated in any program, please take a few minutes to complete our online survey.
